City Hall News: Week of Nov. 1, 2021
Meeting this week are council’s Finance Committee and Municipal Properties Committee, as well as the Elkins Tree Board. Council meets Thursday.
The Finance Committee meets Monday at 10 a.m. on an agenda including the items mailing of utility bills, boot and clothing allowance for certain city employees, and compensation for the city treasurer, who is up for reappointment.
Meeting Tuesday at 5:30 p.m. in the Darden House (next door to city hall), the Tree Board’s new business items are an urban tree plan and projects for 2022. The board will continue discussion of the City Park understory and hear an update on the Adopt-a-Tree program.
The Municipal Properties Committee meets Wednesday at 10:30 a.m. to begin prioritization of the ARPA funds council recently allotted to accessibility, safety, and other projects in city hall.
Council meets Thursday at 7 p.m. The agenda, which may be adjusted through Tuesday, currently includes the following items: first reading of an ordinance authorizing abandonment of unopened portions of Wilmoth Avenue and Main Street; reappointments to various boards and commissions; commitment of parking spaces in the Seneca Mall parking lot to the Tygart Hotel project; reappointment of the city treasurer; and administrative actions related to the city hall parking lot project.
At Thursday’s council meeting, there will also be presentations from the Randolph County Humane Society and the Kump House and Education Center.
