City Hall News: Week of February 27, 2023
Meeting next week are the Elkins Sanitary Board, which manages the city’s sewer system, the Elkins Water Board, which manages the city’s water system, and the Elkins Common Council.
The Sanitary Board meets Monday at 10 a.m. on an agenda that includes discussions on the removal of the Wastewater Chief Operator position from the classification plan, approval of sewer invoices, the career & work skills training program at the Randolph Tech Center, the Town of Harmon wastewater utilities, the stormwater separation project, the sanitary board secretary position, Randolph Avenue foam filled sewer line, and a wastewater rate increase.
On Monday at 4 p.m., the Water Board meets to discuss approval of sewer invoices, compensation for the chief water operator, salary classification and compensation plan for water system employees, new development construction, the CEC Harman Water project overview, the water board secretary position, and a PSC Order concerning the Whitmer Water Plant.
Council meets Thursday at 7 p.m. The agenda may be adjusted through Tuesday. Known items include the final reading of an ordinance changing the zoning map for parcels along N. Randolph and Spruce Street in response to citizen requests, Davis Health System’s request for an endorsement letter in support of its application for a special ABCA permit, and memoranda of understanding with the West Virginia Attorney General’s Office to participate in several opioid-related cases and their eventual settlements as a non-litigating local government. There will also be a presentation by the Elkins Depot Welcome Center CVB.
