City Hall News: Week of Feb. 28, 2022

Meeting this week are council’s Personnel Committee and the Elkins Tree Board. Council meets Thursday at 7 p.m.

The Personnel Committee meets Monday at 12 p.m. to consider implementing a system of longevity pay and how to apportion an increase in the cost of PEIA health insurance.

Meeting Tuesday at 5:30 p.m. in the Darden House (next door to city hall), the Tree Board’s agenda includes planning for the annual Darden Garden Cleanup and tree-pruning in Glendale Park, Mon Power trees, and a request from a Brownie troop concerning outreach opportunities at a Gardening Expo on March 26.

City council meets Thursday at 7 p.m. The agenda may be adjusted through Tuesday. Current agenda items include the second reading of an ordinance amending city laws concerning outdoor burning; the first reading of an ordinance annexing land recently purchased by the Randolph County Development Authority, at the RCDA’s request; a request by the Kump Education Center to apply for two grants; and the transfer of surplus Elkins Police Department to the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office. Tom Tesar, director of parks and recreation, will make a presentation to council about Elkins Parks & Recreation Commission activities and accomplishments during 2021.
