City Hall News, May 11-15, 2020
Elkins, W. Va., May 9, 2020: The reopening of Elkins City Hall, previously scheduled for Monday, May 11, has been postponed. Although the city has now procured the protective equipment needed for employees under the governor’s reopening guidelines, officials are monitoring the reopening decisions of the state and other municipalities, most of which are still closed to the public for now.
Because keeping city hall closed has not prevented the city from delivering core services to date, officials feel that prudence requires moving cautiously and taking the necessary time to develop plans and procedures for keeping the public and city employees as safe as possible. City staff may be contacted by phone or email using the information on this page: www.cityofelkinswv.com/government/departments-divisions.
Despite city hall remaining closed for the time being, all city departments are continuing to operate, as they have throughout the declared emergency. As of last Monday’s return to normal work schedules, city employees have been able to broaden their focus from the delivery of essential government services and return to projects and seasonal work that had been paused as a result of the emergency.
Next week’s regular meetings of the Public Safety, Personnel, and Rules and Ordinances committees have been cancelled.
Please continue to help keep the Sanitation Department as safe as possible by placing out items for collection only in tied trash bags. Remember not to flush anything except human waste and toilet paper.
